We would like to share information about the HIV Prevention Program for the state of Kansas. One of the most significant issues facing the Kansas cadre’ was that of meeting the educational needs of the students. Due to decrease in professional development funding in all 293 school disticts it was somewhat difficult to provide professional development under the older model of workshop/personal attendance format. Kansas entered into an agreement with ANSWER, INC. of Rutgers University to provide on-line professional development to 150 teachers throughout Kansas. 150 teachers took one of two different on-line classes focusing on STDs and HIV/AIDS that were provided by Rutgers’s University. A pre/post inventory was provided for each teacher/cadre’ individual. Most of the cadre’/students did quite well on the inventory.
